HEALTH GUIDELINES AND PROTOCOLS FOR CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

Please familiarize yourself with JCC Harlem's health and safety protocols listed below. These are subject to change as the health landscape evolves.

We believe everyone carries a responsibility for the health of our community, and place the highest value on ensuring safe communal spaces that inspire comfort and confidence. In an effort to encourage our children to be responsible community members, we require that all adults who attend any of our classes adhere strictly to our health and safety guidelines. Our experience has shown that our youngest community members respond best when they take their lead from trusted adults. Your partnership will ensure that we will continue to be able to provide the highest quality of programming during a time when starting and building relationships is invaluable. We appreciate your partnership and cooperation.

Health

If a child (unvaccinated or vaccinated) exhibits any of the symptoms below, a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms or a negative rapid test taken within 24–48 hours after the onset of symptoms is required in order to return to JCC programs. In addition, the child must be fever and symptom-free for 24 hours before returning.

If UNVACCINATED, children should remain home if they have:

  • Tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 10 days
  • A fever of 100 or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, sore throat, congestion, cough, lethargy, etc.
  • A new cold
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Stomach ache and little or no appetite

If FULLY VACCINATED, children should remain home if they have:

  • Tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 5 days (or longer if still symptomatic). We strongly encourage a negative test before returning.
  •  A fever of 100 or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, sore throat, congestion, cough, lethargy, etc.
  • A new cold
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Stomach ache and little or no appetite

Exposure

If an UNVACCINATED child is exposed* to COVID-19 and remains asymptomatic, the child should remain home until:

  • 5 days after the last day of exposure
  • A negative test result on a PCR test taken on or after Day 4 following the exposure or a negative test result on a rapid test taken on or after Day 5 following the exposure

*If the exposure was from a household member, an unvaccinated child will need to refrain from attending JCC programs for 5 days following the end of the household member’s isolation period. A negative PCR test taken at the end of the child’s quarantine is required in order to return.

If a FULLY VACCINATED child is exposed* to COVID-19 and remains asymptomatic, the child should:

  • Follow stringent masking guidelines for 10 days
  • As per the CDC’s suggestion, test on Day 5 following exposure

*If the exposure was from a household member, please refrain from attending JCC programs until the household member is no longer contagious and the child has then had a negative PCR test.

Vaccination

As of Mon, Sep 12, we will no longer check vaccination status for those enrolling in our programs or entering our spaces.
